Famagusta, the historic fortified port town is just 6 miles to the south. Well worth a visit for sightseeing, St Nicholas’s Cathedral & the 12-century Othello’s Tower. The Roman city of Salamis; which actually dates back to BC times and St Barnabas Monastery with its famous ‘room of icons’ is close by.
